Getting to Know Your DSM

$150.00

Beginner Level | 3-Day Training with Dr. Kayla Smith, PhD, LCSW-S

Most clinicians learn to use the DSM as a checklist: scan the criteria, count the symptoms, assign the code. In this three-day introductory training, Dr. Kayla Smith takes you beyond the criteria tables. You’ll learn to use the full text of the DSM-5-TR, including diagnostic features, associated features, prevalence, development and course, risk factors, cultural considerations, and differential diagnosis. That’s the section where real clinical judgment happens.

Using the most common diagnoses you’ll see in practice, Kayla walks you through how to read a diagnosis from start to finish. You’ll learn how to rule conditions in and out and how to document your reasoning with confidence. This course is ideal for graduate students, interns, and early-career clinicians. It’s also a great fit for any practitioner who wants a stronger foundation.

Upcoming Date: November 9th–11th, 2–4pm, with a 20-minute break each day
Format: 3 days, 2 hours per day
Investment: $150

Optional add-on, $50: A private one-on-one session with Kayla. Use it to go deeper on a specific diagnosis or to staff a client case, using the DSM together in real time.
