What to Expect in the Clinical Supervision Program

Our virtual clinical supervision program is structured to help LMSWs gain the skills, insight, and clinical hours needed to apply for LCSW licensure. Whether you're working full-time or part-time, we’ve built a flexible and supportive framework that meets professional requirements and adapts to your schedule.

Supervision Schedule & Format

  • 100% Virtual Supervision held via secured platform (HIPAA-compliant)

  • 4 hours of supervision monthly for full-time LMSWs

  • (Typically two 2-hour group sessions)

  • Individual sessions available as needed

  • Flexible timelines for part-time LMSWs

Supervision is available to LMSWs working in any qualifying clinical role, regardless of location, as long as your state board allows virtual/out-of-state supervisors.

Timeline to Completion

To complete supervision and become eligible for LCSW licensure, you’ll need:

  • 3,000 hours of clinical work experience

  • 100 hours of clinical supervision

  • A minimum of 24 months in active supervision

Supervision cannot be completed in fewer than 24 months.

If you're working full-time (at least 30 hours/week), you can typically complete the process in 24–30 months. For part-time clinicians, the process may extend to 3–5 years depending on your availability and supervision frequency.

Important Notes

  • Supervision must start before any work hours count toward licensure.

  • You must participate in at least 1 hour of supervision per calendar month for that month to be credited.

  • There is no maximum time limit to complete supervision under current regulations (Texas).

  • A free “Intro to Supervision” session is available monthly to help determine mutual fit before onboarding.

Supervision Content & Group Dynamics

Our group supervision sessions are interactive and multifaceted. Topics often include:

  • Case consultation and peer feedback

  • Ethical scenarios and boundary challenges

  • DSM-5-TR diagnosis and clinical formulation

  • Integration of trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches

  • Business-building and private practice skills

  • Relational neuroscience and therapeutic relationship dynamics

We emphasize both clinical and macro perspectives, helping you prepare for the LCSW exam and real-world clinical leadership.

Does Your Job Qualify?

To qualify for LCSW supervision, your role must include the use of clinical social work skills such as:

  • Assessment, diagnosis, or treatment of mental health or substance use concerns

  • Use of the DSM-5-TR or other screening tools in practice

  • Direct client or patient interaction (in-person or virtual)

Eligible roles may include settings such as:

  • Community mental health and hospitals

  • Schools, EAPs, insurance, and hospice care

  • Correctional facilities, VA systems, and nonprofits

  • Private or group practices

  • Military and law enforcement support programs

If you’re unsure whether your role qualifies, we’ll review it together during your consultation.

Cost & Payment Structure

We aim to make supervision both meaningful and financially accessible:

  • $500/month for 4 hours of supervision

  • (usually two 2-hour group sessions/month)

  • Individual sessions available at $125/hour as needed

  • Some employers reimburse supervision costs, be sure to ask!

We recommend checking with your HR department or clinical director regarding supervision reimbursement options.

Documentation & Tracking

You are responsible for keeping a record of:

  • Your supervision hours

  • Your clinical work hours

  • Monthly attendance

We'll provide templates, logs, and support to ensure your documentation is ready for submission once you've completed your supervision and passed your LCSW exam.
